Once-Weekly TransCon hGH Shows Safety and Efficacy in Children with GHD
Background
Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD) in children is a chronic condition characterized by insufficient production of growth hormone, leading to short stature and other developmental issues. The standard treatment involves daily subcutaneous injections of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH), a regimen that can be highly burdensome for both children and their families. This frequent dosing often leads to significant challenges with treatment adherence, potentially compromising long-term growth outcomes and overall quality of life. This pivotal Phase 3 study aimed to address this critical unmet need by evaluating the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of a novel, long-acting growth hormone product, TransCon hGH, administered only once weekly, as a more convenient and potentially adherence-improving alternative to daily injections.
