Salivary oxytocin levels inversely correlate with social loneliness in older adults, increasing after a multimodal intervention

Association between salivary oxytocin concentration and social loneliness in older adults: Findings from an uncontrolled pre-post multimodal intervention study.

This indicates that a more intense perception of loneliness was associated with lower baseline oxytocin levels.

Baseline oxytocin levels showed an inverse correlation with age (p=0.011) and a direct correlation with the level of education (p=0.019).
