Nanoparticles Deliver Brain Peptide to Reverse Diet-Induced Cognitive Decline
Background
A high-fat diet (HFD) is known to induce neuroinflammation and subsequent cognitive impairment, contributing to conditions like obesity-related dementia and metabolic syndrome. The α-melanocyte stimulating hormone analog, NDP-MSH, holds therapeutic promise due to its neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, but its delivery across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) remains a significant challenge. This study specifically addresses how to effectively deliver NDP-MSH to the brain to counteract HFD-induced cognitive deficits.
