Blood Markers Angiopoietin 2 and Cystatin C Aid Early Heart Attack Diagnosis

Retrospective study on the value of serum angiopoietin 2 and cystatin C levels in the early diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome.

Background

Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), encompassing conditions like heart attack, is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Early and accurate diagnosis is critical for timely intervention and improved patient outcomes. However, current diagnostic methods, while effective, can sometimes lack the sensitivity required for very early detection, especially in atypical presentations. This study aimed to evaluate the utility of serum Angiopoietin 2 (Ang-2) and Cystatin C (CysC) as novel biomarkers for the early diagnosis of ACS, addressing a crucial gap in rapid diagnostic tools.
