LL-37-ApoB-100 Complex: A Novel Biomarker for Heart Disease Risk
LL-37-ApoB-100 Complex Serves as a Biomarker of Coronary Artery Disease.
Background
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, characterized by plaque buildup in arteries. Early and accurate diagnosis is crucial for effective intervention and improved patient outcomes. While existing biomarkers like cholesterol levels are useful, there is a continuous need for more sensitive and specific indicators to identify individuals at high risk or with early-stage disease. This study specifically aimed to evaluate the potential of the LL-37-ApoB-100 complex (a combination of LL-37, a human antimicrobial peptide, and ApoB-100, a key protein in LDL cholesterol particles) as a novel diagnostic biomarker for CAD.
