Cathelicidin LL-37 and Ceragenins Explored for Enhanced Wound Healing
Exploring the role of cathelicidin LL-37 and ceragenins in wound healing processes.
Background
Chronic wounds, such as diabetic ulcers, pressure sores, and burns, pose significant health challenges due to their slow healing, susceptibility to bacterial infections, and high recurrence rates. Current therapeutic strategies often fall short, leading to prolonged patient suffering, increased morbidity, and substantial healthcare costs. This study aimed to investigate the specific roles and multifaceted mechanisms of the human antimicrobial peptide LL-37 and synthetic ceragenins in promoting various critical aspects of wound repair and regeneration.
