High Versus Low Oxytocin Dosing Regimens Investigated for Labor Induction in Pregnant Patients with Obesity
Background
Pregnant patients with obesity face higher rates of labor induction and a greater risk of failed induction compared to normal-weight individuals. The precise association between maternal obesity and labor dysfunction, often leading to cesarean delivery, remains poorly understood. While oxytocin is the most common medication for induction of labor, its optimal dosing, particularly in obese patients who may exhibit reduced responsiveness, is unknown. This trial aims to address this critical gap by comparing different oxytocin dosing strategies.
