Carbetocin Compared to Standard Treatment for Preventing Postpartum Bleeding After C-Section
Background
Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH) is a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide, often occurring after a Caesarean section. Effective prevention strategies using uterotonic agents are crucial to reduce blood loss and associated complications like anemia. This Phase 4 clinical trial aimed to directly compare the efficacy and safety of carbetocin against the established combination of oxytocin and Methergine (methyl ergometrine) in preventing PPH following C-section, addressing the knowledge gap of which uterotonic regimen offers superior outcomes in this high-risk population.
