Background

Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) face substantial challenges in social cognition, and a significant number transitioning into adulthood lack effective treatment options. Study Design

This was a Phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study (NCT01183221) involving 30 adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Participants were assigned to receive either intranasal oxytocin (IN-OXT) or a placebo. The primary objective was to examine the effect of IN-OXT on social function. The study aimed to test the hypothesis that IN-OXT would be superior to placebo in enhancing social function by the end of the treatment period.
