68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT detects peritoneal fibrosis in mice and correlates with functional decline in dialysis patients

The clinical value of 68Ga-FAPI to evaluate the peritoneal fibrosis and its inherent molecule relationship with POSTN and DPP7.

Background

Peritoneal fibrosis (PF) is a severe complication for patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD), often leading to peritoneal membrane failure and ultrafiltration failure. Current diagnostic methods are invasive or lack sensitivity, hindering early detection and intervention. This study addresses the critical need for a reliable, non-invasive diagnostic tool by investigating Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP) as a biomarker and 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT as an imaging modality, alongside exploring its molecular relationship with periostin (POSTN) and dipeptidyl peptidase 7 (DPP7).
