Background
Renal transplantation is a life-saving procedure for end-stage renal disease, but long-term success is often limited by graft dysfunction and chronic allograft nephropathy. These complications are driven by various factors, including inflammation and fibrosis, which progressively damage the transplanted kidney. Despite advancements in immunosuppression, a significant knowledge gap remains regarding the precise role of cellular senescence in these processes and its potential as a therapeutic target.
