Pineal Peptides Restore T-Cell Development in Aging Mice
[Regulating effect of pineal gland peptides on development of T-lymphocytes in CBA aging mice: role of microenvironment of immune system organs and neuroendocrine factors].
Background
The immune system undergoes significant decline with age, a process known as immunosenescence, leading to increased susceptibility to infections and reduced vaccine efficacy. A key aspect of this decline is the impaired development and function of T-lymphocytes, critical components of adaptive immunity. The pineal gland secretes various peptides with immunomodulatory properties. However, the specific role of these pineal gland peptides in regulating T-lymphocyte development within the context of an aging immune system, particularly concerning the immune organ microenvironment and neuroendocrine factors, remains underexplored.
