Melanotan II Explored as Adjunct for Vitiligo Repigmentation with UV-B

Melanotan II (MT-II) as an Adjunct to NB-UVB Phototherapy for Repigmentation in Stable Nonsegmental Vitiligo

Background

Vitiligo is a chronic autoimmune skin condition characterized by the loss of melanocytes, leading to distinct depigmented patches. Nonsegmental vitiligo, the most common form, presents as widespread, often symmetrical, white macules. Current treatments, like narrowband UV-B (NB-UVB) phototherapy, offer partial and slow repigmentation, often requiring prolonged commitment. There remains a significant unmet medical need for more effective, accelerated, and durable repigmentation strategies in adults with stable nonsegmental vitiligo. This study aims to address this critical gap.
