IGF-1 Study for Growth Failure in X-Linked SCID Terminated Prematurely

Treatment for Growth Failure in Patients With X-Linked Severe Combined Immunodeficiency: Phase 2 Study of Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1

Background

X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency (XSCID) is a severe genetic disorder where patients lack crucial white blood cells, leaving their immune system unable to fight infections. A common and debilitating complication for these patients is growth failure, which significantly impacts their development and quality of life. This Phase 2 study aimed to address the lack of effective treatments for growth failure in XSCID patients by evaluating the potential of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1).

Study Design

Population
Patients with X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency (XSCID) experiencing growth failure.
Intervention
Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1); dose, route, and duration not specified.
Outcome
The primary endpoint was to evaluate the potential of IGF-1 to address growth failure in XSCID patients.
