Background
Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune condition characterized by the destruction of pancreatic beta cells, leading to absolute insulin deficiency. While exogenous insulin therapy is life-sustaining, achieving optimal glycemic control without increasing hypoglycemia risk remains a significant challenge. Many individuals with T1DM struggle with glycemic variability, requiring constant monitoring and dose adjustments. There is a critical unmet need for adjunctive therapies that can improve glucose homeostasis, reduce insulin requirements, and mitigate long-term complications beyond what insulin alone can provide.
