Liraglutide Plus Metformin Boosts Weight Loss in Obese PCOS Women
Liraglutide as Add on Therapy on Metformin in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Background
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder affecting women, characterized by hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance, and often obesity. Metformin is a first-line treatment for PCOS, improving insulin sensitivity and menstrual regularity, but its impact on weight loss can be modest. This study aimed to determine if adding liraglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist, to metformin therapy could provide superior weight reduction and metabolic improvements in obese women with PCOS.
