Terminated Study Explored KATP Channel Impact on GLP-1 Microvascular Function
Background
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and its analogues like Exenatide and Liraglutide are crucial incretin hormones widely used in Type 2 diabetes management, known for their metabolic and cardiovascular benefits. KATP channels (ATP-sensitive potassium channels) play a vital role in insulin secretion and vascular tone, influencing processes like insulin release and vascular smooth muscle contraction. This study aimed to examine the involvement of KATP channels in the microvascular actions of GLP-1 and its analogues.
