Optimized Treatment for HBV Cirrhosis Shows Promise in Liver Regression

Optimized Treatment and Regression of HBV-induced Compensated Liver Cirrhosis

Background

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a leading cause of liver cirrhosis, a severe condition where healthy liver tissue is replaced by scar tissue, impairing liver function. While antiviral therapies like Entecavir can suppress the virus, achieving regression of established cirrhosis remains a significant challenge. This study investigates whether adding Thymosin-α to standard Entecavir therapy can enhance liver cirrhosis regression in patients with HBV-induced compensated liver cirrhosis.
