Omicron COVID-19 Risks and Treatments for Hemodialysis Patients
Risk Factors and Drug Efficacy for Severe Illness in Hemodialysis Patients Infected with the Omicron Variant of COVID-19.
Background
Global COVID-19 challenges persist with variants like Omicron, posing significant threats. Patients undergoing hemodialysis for end-stage renal disease are a particularly vulnerable population, often experiencing compromised immune systems and multiple comorbidities, placing them at higher risk for severe outcomes from viral infections. Despite this known vulnerability, there remains a critical need to identify specific risk factors and evaluate the efficacy of various drug treatments for severe illness caused by the Omicron variant in this immunocompromised group.
