Modified Neuropeptide Y Fragment Explored for Memory Effects in Animals

Investigation of the effect of a modified fragment of neuropeptide Y on memory phases and extrapolation escape of animals.

Background

The neuropeptide Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a crucial signaling molecule found throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems, playing significant roles in various physiological functions including appetite regulation, stress response, and importantly, cognition and memory. Dysregulation of NPY pathways has been implicated in several neurological and psychiatric disorders that affect memory processes. While the general involvement of NPY in memory formation and recall is recognized, the specific effects of chemically modified fragments of NPY on distinct memory phases and complex cognitive tasks, such as extrapolation escape, remain largely underexplored. This study aimed to investigate this specific knowledge gap.
