AI-Assisted Lifestyle vs. Tirzepatide for Long-Term Weight Loss in Type 2 Diabetes

AI-assisted Multi-domain Lifestyle Versus Tirzepatide for Weight Loss Maintenance in Adults With Type 2 Diabetes (AIM-MAINTAIN)

Background

Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) and obesity represent a significant global health crisis, with over half of Chinese adults with diabetes also experiencing overweight or obesity. Effective weight management is a cornerstone of T2D treatment, demonstrably improving glycemic control and reducing cardiovascular risk. While powerful pharmacological agents like Tirzepatide (a dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist) have shown remarkable efficacy in initial weight loss, the long-term maintenance of this loss, especially compared to advanced lifestyle interventions, remains a critical area for investigation. This Phase 4 randomized clinical trial aims to directly compare the sustained efficacy of an AI-assisted multi-domain lifestyle intervention against continued Tirzepatide treatment for weight loss maintenance in this vulnerable population.
