Tesamorelin Shows Promise for HIV Patients on Integrase Inhibitors
Background
People living with HIV often face complex health challenges, including metabolic complications and changes in body composition, even with effective antiretroviral therapy (ART). While newer ART regimens, particularly those including integrase inhibitors (INSTIs), have significantly improved viral suppression and reduced severe side effects, some patients still experience issues like weight gain, dyslipidemia (abnormal lipid levels), or altered fat distribution, which can increase cardiovascular risk. This study specifically addresses the efficacy and safety of tesamorelin in individuals with HIV who are currently receiving integrase inhibitor-based treatment, a population where specific interventions for managing these metabolic health concerns are still being explored and urgently needed.
