Oral Semaglutide's Safety and Absorption Explored in Diverse Healthy Males
A Trial to Assess the Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, Safety and Tolerability of Oral Semaglutide in Healthy Male Japanese and Caucasian Subjects
Background
For individuals managing Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), effective and convenient treatment options are paramount. Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists are highly effective, but traditionally require injections. The development of an oral formulation, like oral semaglutide, represents a significant advancement in patient convenience and adherence. This study specifically addresses the knowledge gap regarding how oral semaglutide's pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics compare between different ethnic groups, namely Japanese and Caucasian healthy males.
