Ionic Liquid Formulation Boosts Oral Semaglutide Delivery for Type 2 Diabetes

Oral administration of peptide therapeutics like semaglutide faces significant hurdles, including rapid degradation in the gastrointestinal tract, poor absorption across the intestinal lining, and consequently, extremely low bioavailability. Current oral formulations often require high doses or specific administration conditions to overcome these challenges, limiting patient convenience and efficacy. This study specifically addresses the development of a novel enteric formulation to enhance the oral delivery and bioavailability of semaglutide.
