Investigating Combined Drug Delivery for Liver Disease Treatment

A Research Study Comparing Blood Levels of Medicines NNC0194-0499 and Semaglutide Administered as a Combination Formulation Versus Two Separate Formulations

Background

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a severe liver disease characterized by fat accumulation, inflammation, and scarring. Current treatments are limited, highlighting an urgent need for effective therapies. Novo Nordisk is developing a novel combination therapy involving NNC0194-0499, a new liver-targeting medicine, and semaglutide, a well-established GLP-1 receptor agonist used for type 2 diabetes and obesity. This study specifically addresses the critical knowledge gap of how these two medicines behave pharmacokinetically when delivered together in a single formulation compared to separate injections.
