GLP-1 Agonists and Mental Health: A Swedish National Cohort Study
Association between GLP-1 receptor agonist use and worsening mental illness in people with depression and anxiety in Sweden: a national cohort study.
Background
While GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are highly effective for managing type 2 diabetes and obesity, their broader impact on mental health remains a critical area of research. Specifically, the potential for these medications to affect individuals with pre-existing depression and anxiety is not fully understood. This national cohort study aimed to investigate the association between GLP-1 RA use and the worsening of mental illness in this vulnerable patient population.
