Background

Glioblastoma multiforme is an exceptionally aggressive and challenging brain cancer, often diagnosed at advanced stages, leading to a grim prognosis. Accurate and non-invasive diagnostic tools, particularly those that can assess tumor biology, are critically needed for early detection, precise staging, and effective treatment planning. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging offers unparalleled sensitivity for molecular imaging, but existing radiotracers for glioblastoma often suffer from suboptimal tumor specificity, high background signal in normal brain tissue, or rapid metabolism. This preliminary study aimed to synthesize and comprehensively evaluate a novel fluorine-18 labeled radiotracer, [18F]FLT-analogue, for its biological characteristics and potential utility in imaging glioblastoma xenografts.
