Liraglutide trial NCT01451905 to map GLP-1 receptors in psoriatic skin and assess efficacy

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition affecting millions, often requiring long-term treatment with varying efficacy and side effects. Current therapies target specific immune pathways, but new mechanisms are sought. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), like liraglutide, are known for their anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties beyond metabolic control. This study aims to investigate the presence of GLP-1 receptors in psoriatic skin and explore liraglutide's potential as a novel therapeutic approach for psoriasis.
