Tesamorelin's Impact on Body Fat in HIV Lipodystrophy Patients
Body Composition and Adipose Tissue in HIV
Background
Individuals with HIV infection often develop HIV lipodystrophy, a challenging syndrome marked by abnormal fat distribution, including central adiposity (excess visceral fat) and peripheral fat wasting. This condition significantly impacts metabolic health and quality of life. This study investigates how tesamorelin, a growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) analog, affects body composition and metabolic parameters in HIV patients with lipodystrophy and central adiposity.
