New Clinical Trial Investigates AMPK Charge+ for Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes
Background
Millions worldwide suffer from prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes, characterized by impaired glucose metabolism. While drugs like semaglutide (a GLP-1 receptor agonist) are effective, there's a continuous search for complementary or alternative therapies. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an investigational product, AMPK Charge+®, both alone and in combination with semaglutide, on glycemic response.
Results
As this is a recruiting clinical trial (NCT07195994), specific findings are not yet available. The study is designed to determine if AMPK Charge+®, a dietary supplement, can significantly improve glycemic control, either alone or when added to semaglutide therapy. Researchers will meticulously track changes in key metabolic markers such as HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar over 2-3 months), fasting glucose levels, and insulin sensitivity. The primary goal is to identify a measurable reduction in these markers, particularly hoping for a synergistic effect with the combination therapy. The primary objective is to evaluate the change in HbA1c from baseline to the end of the study period across all treatment arms, expecting a significant improvement.
Why It Matters
If successful, this trial could identify a novel dietary supplement, AMPK Charge+®, that effectively improves glycemic control in individuals with prediabetes or Type 2 Diabetes. The potential for AMPK Charge+® to enhance the effects of semaglutide could lead to improved patient outcomes or even lower effective doses of existing medications. This research could pave the way for new therapeutic strategies, potentially offering a non-pharmaceutical adjunct or alternative for managing blood sugar levels. Future steps would involve analyzing the results and potentially moving towards larger Phase II or III human trials.
