Acupuncture Significantly Improves Hormonal and Metabolic Markers in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Effects of acupuncture on improving hormonal and metabolic biochemical characteristics in polycystic ovary syndrome.
Background
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine disorder affecting millions of women, characterized by hormonal imbalances, hyperandrogenism (excess male hormones), insulin resistance, and metabolic dysfunction. These issues lead to irregular periods, infertility, and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Current treatments often focus on symptom management, but there's a critical need for non-pharmacological interventions addressing underlying dysregulations. This study investigates how acupuncture impacts the biochemical characteristics of PCOS, aiming for a novel therapeutic avenue.
