BPC 157 Reverses Organ Dysfunction and Pressure Imbalances After Mesenteric Artery Occlusion

Occlusion of the Superior Mesenteric Artery in Rats Reversed by Collateral Pathways Activation: Gastric Pentadecapeptide BPC 157 Therapy Counteracts Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome; Intracranial, Portal, and Caval Hypertension; and Aortal Hypotension.

Background

Occlusion of the Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) is a critical medical emergency leading to severe ischemia (lack of blood flow) in the intestines, often progressing to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and high mortality. This study aimed to investigate whether the stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157 could effectively counteract the systemic and local pathophysiological consequences of SMA occlusion and reperfusion injury.
