ARA-290 Peptide Shows Promise in Alleviating Diabetic Neuropathic Pain
ARA-290 PubChem Profile
Background
Diabetic neuropathy is a debilitating complication of diabetes, characterized by nerve damage leading to chronic pain, numbness, and weakness. Current treatments often provide inadequate relief and do not address the underlying nerve pathology. ARA-290 is a synthetic peptide derived from erythropoietin, known to activate the innate repair receptor (IRR), a heteromeric complex of CD131 and CD244 receptors, promoting tissue repair and reducing inflammation. This study investigated whether ARA-290 could effectively mitigate neuropathic pain and improve nerve health in a preclinical model of diabetic neuropathy.
